Landscape Design, Construction & Maintenance
The contemporary pool & stunning Spotted Gum deck may be the focal point of the property, but this steep site has two ‘hidden’ treasures: a tranquil Japanese garden and a tropical garden. These two gardens, discreetly integrated into different parts of the property, work in harmony with the overall landscape design and the property’s bushland surrounds.
Working on a steep site always presents logistical challenges but in this instance, the size of the site was also something that needed to be considered in the landscape design. Given how large & open the garden was, we needed to give the site some structure. To overcome this we used large sandstone boulder retaining wall, dry-pack sandstone walls and recycled railway sleeper walls.
When choosing the plants for the garden design, we looked to what was already thriving close to the property. We came up with a hardy mix of Coastal Rosemary, Kangaroo Paw, Pig Face, Weeping Lilly Pilly, Dianella, Lomandra and Gymea Lilly. We used architectural plants such as Cycads, Dracaena Draco, and a large grass tree near the entrance.
